Plantation Island Resort is pleased to announce that the 3rd annual Animals Fiji Golf Day, which was held on Saturday 13th April 2019, has raised another FJ$10,000 for the Nadi based charity.
The Plantation Island Resort / Animals Fiji Golf Day is becoming a memorable event on the Nadi golfing calendar and the 2019 tournament was attended by 40 local golfers. A number of business partners provided sponsorship as well, raising FJ$7,900 from the tournament itself. Plantation Island Resort hosted the event and provided complimentary lunch while Malolo Cat transported all the golfers to the island free of charge.
Plantation Island Resort’s Director of Sales & Marketing, Akshay Singh, was challenged to raise more funds for Animals Fiji by shaving his beard in public. He accepted the challenge and was able to raise a further FJ$2,100 in 24 hours, with his beard shaved off at Cardo’s Restaurant at Port Denarau in front of a group of local community members. This brought the total donations from the weekend to FJ$10,000.
“Plantation Island Resort’s—and more so the entire Raffe Hotels & Resorts Group’s commitment to the animals is fantastic! We are extremely grateful for their continued support via the annual golf tournament, their continued work on the trap-neuter-release program for cats, and sponsorship at our various fundraisers throughout the year. Simply put, if it wasn’t for supporters like them, we wouldn’t exist,” stated Casey Quimby, Animals Fiji’s Co-Founder & Managing Trustee. “The funds raised from this event will go to growing our outreach services by bringing our veterinary teams to the communities. Also, special thank you to the all the sponsors of the event, particularly our Gold Sponsors: Plantation Island Resort, Malolo Cat, Ahura Resorts, Musket Cove Island Resort, Fiji Gateway Hotel and Fiji Gas.”
Plantation Island Resort is nestled in the heart of Fiji’s beautiful Mamanuca Islands. Spread over 123 acres of coconut palm-studded tropical gardens, Plantation Island Resort sits on the very shoulders of an azure-shaded lagoon and seven-kilometres of sun-kissed white sand.
