TOUR 1: MELE CASCADES: WATERFALL TOUR – OPTION 1 (Half Day Tour)
This tour departs from 8am to 3pm daily from your Hotel foyer. You will be greeted by our friendly staffs who will be escorting you on a 15 minute pleasant drive to Mele Cascades Waterfall located outside the township area.
Your guide gives you an introduction of the tour and commentary as you drive past local villages and schools.
At the Mele Cascades, you will be guided through the lush and tropical rainforest, you will be able to catch sight of local cultivation of vegetable gardens and learn about the culture and livelihood of the local people.
Go for a dip in the clear natural rock pools for a refreshing swim. You can simply sit under the cool shade and enjoy the green scenery. Should time allow, you will be able to enjoy the scenery from our lookout view. At the base, you will find an array of tropical seasonal fruits and cold drinks awaiting your descent. This is served in the Mele Cascades Riverside Garden.
TOUR 2: PELE ISLAND BEACH & SNORKELING TOUR (Full Day Tour)
Tour Departs Daily from Every Hotel Foyer. This is a full day Island Tour starting at 8:30am. This tour will give you the opportunity to visit one of our most beautiful islands.
The renown Pele Island which won the Best Tour awards in 2005-16 Tourism Awards which Evergreen won as best soft & recreational tour. This is a chance to learn about the historical and local life of the island people along with the new ways daily living.
A each pick up point you are greeted by our friendly Local Guide and Driver. This is a Full Day Island Tour not to be missed.
TOUR 3: TASTE OF VANUATU – Mele Cascades Waterfall, Kava House and Coffee Factory (Half Day Tour)
Vanuatu’s people are natural gardeners who rely on their food crops for income and daily nourishment. Most of these produces are cultivated and harvested traditionally in organic conditions.
This way of living gives the local people their resilience of being able to survive in natural disasters therefore this tour prides itself in showcasing subsistence farming and the ownership the people take in this way of life to make a living in reliance of their surrounding natural resources.
The tour offers a visit to the Mama’s Roadside Market then onto Tanna Coffee for sampling and a more in-depth ‘tree to cup ‘tour on small-holder farming. A drive through the Mele Garden area and nature walk at the cascades provides more information on subsistence farming where guests also have a chance to see for themselves and take dip in the freshwater pools.
Refreshments of tropical seasoned fruit and cold drinks are served on the overwater deck. At the final stop, discover the origins of kava, its cultivation and learn of the kava beverage and its significance to the Vanuatu culture.
TOUR 4: MELE VILLAGE & SCHOOL TOUR (Full Day Tour)
An opportunity to learn about the history of Mele Village, its people and its culture, this tour offers guests a chance to visit Vanuatu’s biggest village on the South of Efate.
Mele is sometimes referred to as the ‘village with a big heart’ and widely known as ‘Imere’ in the local dialect depicting the Namele palm leave which symbolises peace in the Vanuatu.
The visit includes stops at the local kindergarten /primary school teaching both national languages-French and English, a leisure walks around the village to see the folklore and learn of the significance of the coconut palm tree and its uses in the Mele lifestyle.
A nature walk and refreshing swim at the Cascades Rock pools to wrapping up at Mele’s Beach Bar, snacks and drinks are provided with a summary of the origins of Mele natives (‘Mamere’ in Mele) and Mele Island (‘Imere Tenuku’ in Mele) now well known as Hideaway Island.
TOUR 5: Discover Vanuatu Excursion (Full Day Tour)
This tour extends to the east coast of Efate visiting a cultural village and learn about the custom and way of life.
Cultural dances with custom stories are performed with freshly-picked tropical fruits for sampling. A must-do is the Vanuatu’s first and own chocolate factory, learn of how the cacao is cultivated, harvested, dried and fermented by locals to make this delicious dark chocolate in a ‘bean to bar’ tour. At the turtle sanctuary, say ‘hi’ to a century-year old turtle called ‘Big Mama’ and her forty-year old colleague ‘Big Ben’.
Turtle nurseries for breeding also available for viewing with a few other indigenous animals like the coconut crab. After a dip in the clear lagoon and a sumptuous BBQ lunch, take a plunge on the jungle rope at the popular Eton Blue Lagoon.
Also available along this strip for viewing are huge coconut plantations and cattle ranches established during the colonial years.
