Australians and New Zealanders have always had a love affair with the South Pacific. Whilst destinations like Fiji have been on the radar for many years, holiday makers are now looking for ‘the road less travelled’.
Two young tourism marketing entrepreneurs have launched their business – Pacific Island Tourism Representation (PITR). They will assist in promoting Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Solomon Islands, Niue and Fiji, showcasing authentic holiday experiences to the Australian and New Zealand travel market.
Having a strong connection to the South Pacific, Co-owners; Jemma Senico who is of Fijian ancestry, and Jenny-Lee Scharnboeck who following in her great uncle’s footsteps worked as Marketing Manager with Tourism Tonga; will provide the only representation company in Australia focusing solely on the emerging markets of the South Pacific.
“Fiji is a mature destination now, so travellers are looking for authentic new experiences there. Whilst Samoa, Vanuatu and the Cook Islands are in the growth stage, with Tonga, Solomon Islands and Niue poised to become exciting new destination options for the Australian market” said Director, PITR Jenny-Lee Scharnboeck.
PITR specialise in putting the Pacific front and centre, by providing sales, marketing and representation solutions for accommodation and experience businesses. They also offer a diverse range of training programs including; online success, customer service, working with the media, tour guiding, storytelling, selling your story, product and destination development and business planning.
Jemma has over 10 years’ experience in the tourism and travel industries in Australia, the South Paciﬁc and the UK. Her experience spans retail travel, events, online marketing and hotel management. Jemma is also author of ‘the hibiscus traveller’ blog and contracted to write travel articles for a range of publications including Pacific Island Living magazine.
Jenny-Lee has great skill in coaching small and medium businesses to step outside their comfort zone and achieve exponential business growth. She won a NSW Tourism Award for her work in taking tourism operators to new markets. Her extensive experience includes sales & marketing, destination development, operations, learning and development.
Nicknamed the Dynamic Duo at their first Pacific event, the two are looking forward to living up to that name. “Our goal is to inspire great experiences for visitors, deliver exposure and results for Pacific operators and have as much fun as possible along the way. Having a team on the ground in Australia to support trade, consumer and online enquiries can make a big difference in converting sales,” said Co-Director PITR, Jemma Senico.
