Cutting Toddy in Tuvalu

Every morning and evening, the man of the house has to cut toddy in order to collect the coconut tree sap into a toddy nut or a bottle for traditional red toddy, in which the Tuvaluans used it for drinking, making food, eating, etc. Some Tuvaluans called red toddy is like honey because it sweet like honey. In the outer islands some men will cut toddy and leave it for a long time and they will get it down. So that they can use it to drink as alcohol and we called it “Kao”. It smell bad but it taste good if you want try it for the first time.
